Description
The Pedal Tool can read analog accelerator pedal rails and then output the resulting pedal position over CAN or to dual 5V DACs. This is the Swiss Army Knife of pedals providing the ability to read analog rails, simulate analog rails, and switch between sources via CAN commands.
The PedalTool can operate in several different modes. In Analog to CAN mode the pedal rail(s) are sampled and a pedal percent is calculated and presented on the CAN bus. In CAN to Analog mode a pedal percent CAN command will set the levels of a dual rail DAC which will output the correct analog voltages to simulate analog pedal(s). Lastly, a Static mode will set the analog pedal voltages to a stable value, such as idle. The PedalTool can be switched between these modes at any time via CAN commands allowing a real analog pedal to be swapped for a static pedal in real time. Or an analog pedal can be monitored on CAN but different values will be output to the ECU/PCM based on CAN commands.
